Emergency Medical Information & Responder Accountability
Critical information for authorized responders.
Connect accountability tags with securely managed emergency profiles. Planned tools include:
- Personalized accountability tags: department-branded tags with a firefighter’s photo, name, rank, identifier, and unique QR code.
- Flexible templates and print-ready downloads: create personalized accountability tags in the size and format that fit your department’s needs.
- Keep your existing cards: add an FDTag QR code sticker to the back of each existing accountability card to connect it to controlled emergency medical access.
- Private emergency profiles: firefighter-maintained emergency contacts, allergies, medications, relevant conditions, and optional emergency instructions.
- Controlled emergency access: authorized responders sign in and confirm an emergency purpose before protected information appears. Department administrators do not automatically receive medical access.
- Secure QR links and activity logs: no medical data in the code, logged medical profile views, and individual revocation of lost tags. Profile updates will not require a new QR code.
- One personal account: firefighters serving multiple departments maintain one private profile with department-specific tags.

Module 02 · Department Administration
Personnel Management
From application to active service, without the paperwork bottleneck.
Simplify the path from a prospective member’s first application to an approved personnel record. Instead of collecting paper forms, sorting email attachments, and repeatedly entering the same information, departments will be able to handle applications and personnel records in one place. Planned tools include:
- Online applications, made easier: applicants complete department-branded employment or membership applications online, including contact details and fire service history. Authorized personnel can review submissions in one place, request corrections or missing information, and approve records for onboarding without retyping the application.
- Standardized department forms: department-branded templates for routine notices, acknowledgments, and other administrative paperwork.
- Certifications and qualifications: member-uploaded certificates and supporting documents for department review.
- Performance reviews & disciplinary tracking: manage annual performance reviews, probationary evaluations, employee assessments, counseling records, disciplinary actions, and corrective action plans. Maintain an organized history of follow-up actions and documented improvements, with reminders for upcoming or overdue annual reviews.
- Roster management: ranks, stations, assignments, and personnel identifiers, plus CSV/Excel roster imports with validation and administrator review.
- Personnel files and archives: department-owned records and historical files, including department-specific evaluations, discipline, and application notes.
- Controlled staff access: department-assigned permissions and activity logs, with personnel records kept separate from private medical information.

Privacy & Security
Emergency access without open access.
Scanning an FDTag QR code does not publicly reveal medical information. Protected details require authorized sign-in and confirmation of an emergency purpose.
Planned protections include encryption, role-based permissions, access logs, tag revocation, and secure backups. Firefighters control their medical profiles; department administrators do not automatically receive medical access.

Each department will manage its own personnel records and permissions, while your private medical information remains separate.

FDTag is being developed by a firefighter with 25 years of volunteer service in a high-volume combination department, including service as its Fire Chief. That experience leading volunteer and career personnel in a demanding fire, rescue, and EMS environment shapes our approach to accountability, personnel management, and emergency information.
Our focus is practical tools that fit how fire departments actually operate.

FDTag is being built for volunteer, combination, and career fire departments of all sizes. We believe departments should have access to useful software without paying for features they do not need.
Both EMIRA (Emergency Medical Information & Responder Accountability) and Personnel Management will have their own subscription pricing tiers based on department size. Departments can subscribe to either module individually or choose both. Smaller departments will not be charged the same flat price as larger departments.
Specific subscription rates and introductory offers will be announced closer to launch.

Questions departments ask.
Does FDTag replace our existing accountability system?
No. FDTag is designed to supplement your department’s established accountability and incident command procedures, not replace them. Departments can also plan to use QR stickers with existing accountability cards.
Who can access a firefighter’s medical information?
Private medical details will not appear from a public QR scan. Access is planned for authenticated, authorized emergency responders with an emergency purpose. Firefighters maintain their own medical information; department administrators do not receive automatic medical access.
Can we use FDTag without Personnel Management?
Yes. Emergency Medical Information & Responder Accountability and Personnel Management are planned as independent modules. Your department can select either one or both.
